Scanning devices in Add Multiple

Use the scanner in Buy Orders -> Add Multiple to capture identifiers quickly, especially for laptops, headphones, and retail-boxed devices.

Paired scan workflow

The scanner now uses one guided flow:

  • Scan a product UPC/EAN once to set the active product template.
  • Scan each unit serial (or IMEI where applicable) to pair units under that template.
  • Repeat with another UPC if the order has multiple SKUs.
  • Select Done to add grouped entries.

Product barcodes identify a SKU, while serials/IMEIs identify each unit.

  1. Open a new buy order and switch to Add Multiple.
  2. Select Scan to Add.
  3. Scan a product UPC/EAN (recommended first):
    • This sets the active product template (brand/model/color/device type suggestion).
  4. Scan each unit serial/IMEI:
    • Each scan is paired to the active product.
    • The scanner shows grouped counts so you can confirm progress.
  5. Select Done:
    • Product groups are added as grouped entries.
    • Any loose identifiers scanned without a product are placed in the IMEI/Serial field.
  6. Run Look Up & Add Devices or generate entries manually.

Notes

  • UPC lookup is a suggestion flow; verify model/variant before final save.
  • If a UPC is not recognized, continue scanning units and set device type/details manually.
  • If camera access is blocked, verify browser camera permissions and HTTPS context.
  • Scanner and Add Multiple now use centralized buy-order group state before submit, so grouped results are serialized consistently into the same entry_groups payload used for restore/edit flows.
  • USB / plug-in barcode readers (keyboard wedge scanners) work in two ways:
    • Open Scan to Add and scan while the scanner window is open — codes route through the same paired UPC → serial workflow as the camera.
    • Focus the IMEI/Serial Numbers field and scan directly; each scan adds a line. Use Look Up & Add Devices to process the list.
  • Most wedge scanners send Enter or Tab after each code; no extra configuration is required in Restock.
  • You can still paste identifiers manually in the same Add Multiple form.
